Too Many Passwords

Got too many email accounts and too many passwords which is why I limit my usage to three primary addresses.

But every now and then I go look at the older ones to see if there are new messages from old friends or family who have forgotten about the current and fail to use the telephone.

The typical check yields spam and emails that are supposed to reach others but have been sent to me because people don’t know their own email address.

Can’t tell you how many notes I have gotten for the wrong JWilner and how many times I have unsubscribed, canceled reservations or declined invitations.

Used to be that I would sometimes respond with a polite note saying they had the wrong address but after multiple incidents with the same few people I decided if they can’t be bothered to give out the correct information I can’t be bothered with their emails.

Anyhoo, on my most recent adventure I went to update site and figured I’d double check on the email. There were multiple notes from Facebook there suggesting someone was trying to use that address for a new account.

I decided to try to log in to that account with the idea I was going to post a snarky message on their profile about choosing a new email address and password.

It didn’t quite work out like that and there was no harm nor foul committed but I did come up with a funny story that I don’t think I’ll share here.

Boundaries

There are still boundaries in blogging even for someone like myself who sees such things as suggestions and not rules.

Heard about another old friend who died, but the story I was told didn’t provide a cause.

Been thinking about him and how we weren’t close enough for me to know much about him any more, other than the whispers one hears through the grapevine.

Could muse on whether it is fair to call him a friend or someone I once knew but that is unkind.

He is a son, brother, uncle and important to people so I wouldn’t minimize the loss or trivialize it in such a way so close to his demise.

I like to think I have been conscience of this for years and maybe I have, but I certainly became far more aware of such things after my dad died.

Someone once told me I was probably relieved by his death and I know they had no idea that had they said it so callously in front of me there is a good chance they would have accidentally fallen down the stairs or have been defenestrated.

Anyhoo, midnight has arrived and I need to return to the one sentence blog post I put up elsewhere and turn it into something more or delete it.

Sometimes a single sentence works, but I am not ready to say so about this one. Not yet, not now and maybe not ever.

Possibilities and opportunities abound, such is the way of things and you never do know what the tide will bring.

Or so I think, even though I am landlocked in the Lone Star state far from saltwater and sea air.
