I had played around with using We’re Back From Being Back In The Heights as a working headline but I opted to go a different direction.
Someone told me using names in a headline is a way to generate more traffic so maybe we’ll a Daniel and Anne stroll through here…again.
Call it animal magnetism or call is nostalgia from 40th high school reunions. Cue Paul Simon singing Kodachrome about all the crap he learned in high school.
Been seeing lots of pictures from people I know who went to their aforementioned high school reunions. The shots from the Valley Relics Museum caught my eye as did the people who took brunch photos in which you could see old men standing to the side, one hand on a shoulder because time has made them decrepit.
If body language means anything the lady who was used by the alter cocker resting his hand upon her wasn’t thrilled. She wasn’t trying to shrug him off but she sure wasn’t leaning into him either.
It was surreal looking at those shots, seeing faces I recognize and thinking about how much time has passed. Lots of gray hair and some wrinkles on many, but not all.
Time is kinder to some of us than others.
And the signs and memorabilia from that Valley Relics museum took me back decades and even made me look through some old shots. Shots that remind me that time has aged me too, some still ask I am dying my hair black but I don’t think that will continue much longer.
Not quite peppered yet, but it is coming.
Singing Along
Been working hard on several projects and been leaning harder into bringing my command of Hebrew back and beyond where it once was.
So I watch shows with subtitles and listen to a variety of artists. Take the lyrics place them on the page and read along so that I am confident I have them down.
Work on translating back and forth in my head and wonder if I miss idioms.

Map Your Vision
One of the privilege of not dying is the way in which you view your second chances. I got serious about getting myself back into the kind of shape I hope to create.
I don’t think it is realistic to say I can look exactly like that guy on the right but I think I can get close enough to be happy. Aim for the moon and if you fall short you still have accomplished something pretty damn cool.
So I put on my Hebrew interviews and songs during time on the treadmill and go with other stuff when am slinging iron.
Sometimes you have to map out your vision so that you figure out what milestones and metrics need to be a part of it.
It is all tied to the hero’s journey I have written about here.
That hero’s journey is how I kept my spirits up after heartbreak and the four day hospital adventure, the torn distal tendon/surgery and the genetic testing that suggested I had a high probability of colon cancer.
That made for a long hour and I was more than grateful to find out it was a mistake.
But again the privilege of not dying has impacted how I look at so many things in life. This merry-go-round is one hell of a ride.
I don’t know exactly where I am going to end up but I am up for the adventure and confident with my ability to manage whatever I encounter.
