These probably aren’t the most popular posts about fire dancing and pole vaulting that exist online but I liked the combination of images and went with it.
Spent a few minutes rolling through some of the tools and systems in place to review the so called most popular posts from the last dozen years and decided to share a partial list below.
I haven’t done a heavy scientific analysis so I can’t give you a ton of details about what this says about the blog or dig deep into whether I think these are worthy of their being listed as among the most popular.
But I can tell you that traffic has dropped year over year here for a while now. Is that because the content is less interesting than it once was or because there are more options for places to find content online?
Both could be true, but the former is subjective and the latter is factual.
In my own experience I have found the amount of content that is fed to us to be overwhelming and oppressive at times which is a big part of why I have been reducing what I access and what has access to me.

What Does It All Mean?
To be honest I am not assigning much meaning to any of this right now. I felt a need to update the blog but am short on time and wanted to start venturing into some new content ideas so this served that purpose.
Since this isn’t something I am doing to make a living I have the luxury of writing about what I want, when I want and how I want to.
Most of the time my focus is upon writing because I enjoy doing it and it is a skill that requires activity so that it remains polished.
And it also serves as a way to sometimes blow off steam and come to conclusions and understandings about things that may bother or intrigue me.
I expect I’ll probably take a few minutes to dig into the posts listed above and see if I think they share commonalities and elements that provide insight into their popularity.
But mostly I expect I’ll try to decide if I like my writing and if I have improved or regressed in my ability during the time in which they were published.
