The previous post might be some of my favorite writing or so I recollect feeling but I probably won’t read it again any time soon, if at all.
I quoted a post Peter Himmelman posted on Threads and feel fired up because I agree with it but I don’t think my response vocalizes my feelings in the manner I wish them to be shared.
It is appropriate for this particular moment in time when so many Jews are processing generational trauma with sadness and rage.
The gaslighting coming from multiple places is exceptionally bad because there are far too many people making excuses for why we shouldn’t feel a particular way.
Far too many people who say we can’t grieve or respond in particular ways because they think it is incorrect or inappropriate.
It reaffirms an uncomfortable truth, the world is comfortable with dead Jews.
That might not be applicable to large swaths of people but it is spot on with way too many. Been told too many times that saying something like this is self victimization and or whining.
I don’t consider it to be either, it is acknowledging circumstances and it comes with my acknowledgement that I don’t see myself or any of my fellow MOTs as victims.
Some people may learn that the hard way and I am ok with that too.
Got Zeppelin playing on iTunes but the song doesn’t match the subhead because my mind is playing out different possibilities on a political level while my head processes some professional changes.
But I’ll just roll with it for a few because I am stalling for time because I keep hearing that the IDF is inside of some tunnels and might be close to rescuing hostages.
Can’t tell you if the information is accurate or any specifics, can only say I hope it is true and that they rescue our kids.
I want them to get everyone out, but I want the kids first because I am a father and I can’t imagine the pain other parents are going through.
This is part of why I am angry because I do not believe we are going to get everyone back alive and in good spirits. I want to be wrong but reality tells me it is unlikely.
Got more than a few fools who have taken the words of the hostages that were released as meaning that they were all treated well.
These useful idiots ignore the kidnappers took the kidnapped as part of a murderous attack in which they might have seen their loved ones murdered as well as many others.
These useful idiots ignore that in some cases the terrorists still hold loved ones of the kidnapped. Do they really think the newly released are going to say anything that might get them killed.
But for now hope springs eternal even if there is reason to believe we could come upon a very ugly reality.
The end of this current war needs to be one in which Hamas has been kicked out of Gaza and is demoralized.
They need to feel like the price they paid is too high to try and repeat this or as close as we can get to it. They cannot see this as a victory and or use it to inspire other groups.
But will it be the end of Hamas?
I don’t think so. I want it to be but I don’t think military action will kill the idea. There is going to need to be a political component too but what that is and when it will be possible isn’t something I am sure how to define/predict,
At least not today, tomorrow may be different.
