The emails come in pushing me to sign up for the newsletter so they never have to use the dreaded words, “you missed a post” with me.
Sometimes the content providers are very aggressive in their attempt to convince me not to miss a post.
It is not just one message, but multiple attempts that suggest missing a post will lead to mass chaos of biblical proportions.
Dependent upon my mood, the weather and 13 other variables I may choose to share my pleasure at being inundated with their request to ensure I never miss anything.
Some of my best work comes from being inspired by ire and general irritation so perhaps I ought to be grateful for their assistance in improving my communication skills.
It ought to also remind me not to push others to read the 34 posts they missed since their last visit but sometimes I am better at giving advice than following it.
A couple of recent events made it clear to me that adventure isn’t coming, it is here.
Maybe it has been here longer than I realized and the hero’s journey hasn’t just begun, it is in process.
Maybe we have already given Charon funds for passage across the Styx and we’re in the process of making our way through the underworld back towards the surface.
Such things are possible because life moves so damn quickly you don’t always recognize the changes that are happening around you until they have already happened.
You’re not always recording them in real time via blogging, Instagram or other channels.
Sometimes you’re sharing your thoughts and ideas after the moment.
People ask which is better and the answer always varies depending upon your specific need.
Do you need to lean upon the perspective of thoughtful reflection or the speed of immediate reaction.
Was the question answered by your gut response or a thoughtful plan.
So here we are standing in a place we have been in before yet ever so different because the riverbanks are not what they were when we entered years before and neither are we.
Life experience and time have applied their mark upon us but it is too soon to determine if the changes are so great as to make union impossible.
That is ok because when you are on the hero’s journey you recognize that you entered it because of the improbable.
But you also recognize something in your gut, character or something you can’t define makes you believe the improbable might be possible so you strive to reach for it.
That willingness to stretch is what distinguishes and you and this moment from the others.
Some would give up and give in because complications and complexity make it seem too hard.
But not all because sometimes what appears to be a Gordian knot turns out to be far simpler to resolve than appearances would make it seem.
Sometimes you dance in the fire for a bit and discover a path through the eye of the storm and then instead of having to turn back like those others you march into the valley.
Changed, different and marked by the moment, but steadied by experience and the success earned by overcoming a challenge.
Write What You Feel & See
Doesn’t have to be the inside of June to make you feel like you are in a warm and inviting place.
Doesn’t require a particular magic or sacrifice to find the kingdom especially when you fulfill your promise to the queen to provide protection as you always have.
You write what you see and feel upon the parchment within the palace library and know that will be enough.
And if it is not, well then you will find out that it is not enough now and you can ask how long you will have to wait.
Or you can keep sending out notices saying you missed a post and see if that gets your words read, heard and listened to.
There is no single formula or path to success here other than an open mind, an open heart and a willingness to keep walking the long and winding road.
