The Subtext Of Conversations

Sometimes people over analyze conversations and look for a deeper meaning that might not be there though they hope it exists.

If you come to me and ask for a list of URLs and then find me when the news you receive is scary and disconcerting because I am the rock I interpret that in a particular way.

That is not judgment or deep analysis because the meaning is obvious and I’ll see the subtext without effort.

Weigh that against the person who says they saw me make a face when I said hello and that I didn’t sound friendly which proves I was unhappy with them and I’ll shake my head.

That is because there is no logic or reason tied into the latter.

It ignores 1,000 other variables such as acknowledging the sun was in my eyes and the rumble in my stomach.

We all see things as we wish to and not always as they are. Such is our struggle and sometimes our fate.

Chores Of Life

Sitting at the table listening to a couple of Willie Nelson songs while I write and think about the day that was and the one to come.

Sometimes it feels like all we have are the chores of life and you just want to give them all up and walk away.

I know because I have been down that road more than once and I have taken my own advice and walked away from it all.

Turned life upside down and inside out because of necessity and in part because I could.

So when people suggest I can’t walk away from people or give things up I always shake my head and wonder if they really believe that.

Haven’t had need or occasion to disabuse them of the notion but I may have mentioned it once or twice as a reminder not to test me unless they are prepared for potential outcomes.

Came up the other day and I didn’t say anything because sometimes you know doing so will force you to cross the Rubicon.

I already have a boat tied up at the dock waiting to take me so I figure unless there is a reason to rush I can take a little bit more time.

Won’t be long before we are into 2022 or 2023 and new possibilities open up.
