Drove out to Greenville for a meeting and discovered the person I was supposed to see in the parking lot wasn’t there…or anywhere close.
Parking lot makes it sound like it was mysterious but there is nothing mysterious about it. Retail area, outdoor space, easy talk shop while being socially distanced.
Net result was a 150 mile round trip but not for nothing because I found ways to be productive, even if I wasn’t as productive as I had hoped.
Hit a college road show to hear a school from Nashville talk about why my daughter should consider applying. Was nice to hear them say they require masks and vaccines.
Didn’t get home until 9 but was able to listen to the Dodgers one game wild card game in the car and then watch the balance at home.
The game was tied up 1-1 until the 9th inning and then we erupted with cheers when Chris Taylor hit a walk off home run.
The Dodgers have had a pretty damn good run for the last eight or nine years so the majority of recent memory for the kids have been of their success.
They don’t remember the time before that very well and certainly can’t remember the long stretch between Series victories the way I can.
What I find cool is that they have seen a number of big plays and experienced the kind of moments that sports fans love.
And we have shared it, those moments. These are the little things that turn ordinary into extraordinary.
Sticks out more than ever given the night of listening to admission counselors talk about this particular university.
The time when there will be no children here is closer than ever. It is what we push for, what we teach, how to stand and live on your own.
But it feels strange to think that after all these years of trying to prepare them the time is about here…almost.
