My Favorite YoYo & Other Tales

Thought about sharing the story of my favorite YoYo and other tales with you but haven’t determined how much I feel like saying or what I want to put out…here.

Could start by saying I pulled this cover up and that I appreciate the lyrics or how I appreciate these lyrics too.

Told someone I was fired up about something and they said I am always fired up so I turned around and left the room because nothing I would have responded with would have been kind.

Cuz I am fired up about a situation that I played through my head because I needed to consider a variety of angles before I decide to go to war.

Determined I am in the right and that I am comfortable going forward in a particular direction and made plans to do it.

Planting my feet and digging in because someone hasn’t learned if you slip a knife in between the ribs it doesn’t always lead to death.

So now that I took it out and did my best to bandage it there will be multiple responses but they’ll happen on my schedule.

Sometimes a good attitude adjustment goes a long way in helping others learn about the advantages of having good manners.

Busy Days

That might be one of my favorite candles and a lesson I work on sharing with others.

It’s funny to me that some people accuse me of verbosity because there is a large group who tell me I ought to speak up more often.

Had a conversation with the kids a while back about learning to share something meaningful and or to ask good questions.

“Don’t be the person who makes everyone else groan when they speak. Don’t be the man/woman who thinks they have to comment on everything because there is no upside.

People will respect you more if you think before you speak and try to add meaning or advance the conversation.”

It wasn’t abstract so I am confident they got it. Followed up be reminding them that even strategic speaking has pitfalls.

“Some people won’t understand what you are saying because they aren’t listening or because there is a communication gap. They don’t follow you and maybe you don’t follow them. It happens, find a way to work through or around it.

Dark Was The Night

Sitting here listening to Blind Willie Johnson sing Dark Was The Night thinking about what else I want to write about and where.

Updated about every other joint, but need to go back and review. Need to dig in and fix some coding issues.

Got a book I have to read ‘cuz in a week or two I am expected to give a short report on it.

Put a couple of miles in on the treadmill but might have to do some more ‘cuz exercise and writing are how I retain what little sanity I have left.

****

Flipping between wanting the weekend to last a month longer and wanting Monday to come because this situation I have to deal with is unlikely to go away on its own.

And if it won’t disappear without requiring me to have to deal with it then I want to run towards it and get it over with.

That is the thing, I don’t like confrontation but I am not afraid of it and once I am engaged, I am engaged and my focus is complete until it is not.

So if I am going to have to go in and see if a beating comes or if I am going to give as good or better than I want to get it done.

Anticipation cuts too deep, so let’s know if the water will scald my bits or freeze them. Let’s know if it is going to hurt or if it is not, let’s find out.

The night may be dark, but dawn always comes…always.
