Five Minutes On A Saturday Night

Giving five minutes to writing on this particular blog because I have things to do and time to spend with people who are interested in real conversation.

Told a few that tried to push conspiracy clap trap about a fair election they ought to see a doctor about their cranial rectum problem.

The soon to be former president doesn’t care about anyone other than himself and you have to be willfully blind, dumb and ignorant not to see it.

His intentional fanning of the flames of discord to push a myth that the election was stolen is dangerous and the very worst thing a leader can do.

It is incomprehensible to see there is no bottom and that intelligent people believe the GOP picked up seats in the House and improved in several areas but lost the presidency because of a conspiracy.

There is no sense and if you look at the reality of the time it is clear Trump bungled a pandemic that can be labeled as the greatest tragedy to hit America in modernity.

Covid19 led to more than 240k deaths and enormous economic ruin because of his failure and it is not over.

That alone provides ample reason for Americans to vote him out. Add his divisive rhetoric, impeachment and regular attacks on democratic norms and be confident history will ask why the senate didn’t oust him when he was rightfully impeached for corruption.

Should I Stay Or Should I Go

Been unfriended on Facebook by more than a few and lost some real friendships because of my position on Trump.

Haven’t lost sleep over most because it has become clear that you cannot claim to be moral, decent and believe in law and order while supporting this man.

You don’t have to like Biden. You don’t have to like or support the policies of his party but you have to be willing to take a stand and push back against a demagogue who demands blind loyalty over character and integrity.

I can accept people not voting for Biden, but I do not understand how anyone of conscience voted for Trump this time around.

2016 was different, I thought those votes were strange, but I could follow a certain twisted logic. Not this time.

Too many school and public shootings. Two synagogue shootings (Pittsburgh/Poway), the March on Charlottesville and more than a few more antisemitic events.

You can’t tell me that because he did good things for Israel and there were some economic gains we ought to ignore all of the other bad stuff and it was BAD.

That refusal to criticize, demand better and hold him accountable is why I lost respect for so many and why I don’t take their complaints about the other side seriously.

That is too bad, because there is plenty to complain about and I believe no person/party should be above balanced, fair and reasonable criticism.

But that is not where we are at and now we have a president who some say is a national security risk and an enemy to democracy.

You know what, it is really hard to argue against it.

I really wanted him to prove me wrong and do better. I wanted him to succeed because it would be better for everyone but that isn’t what happened and here we are, stuck in a horrific situation because Trump is a disaster and incompetent loser.

****

Fortunately Joe Biden provides real hope and given the bar has been set so low by Trump it won’t be hard to exceed expectations.

If nothing else kindness and compassion will return to the White House and I pray we’ll see the impact upon the nation sooner than later.

Message In a Bottle

So here is one of a thousand proverbial messages in a bottle sent out to the future.

More than a few friends have told me their kids don’t plan on becoming parents because they don’t like the world they see.

So I wonder if I will become a grandfather myself one day many years in the future and if so what life will look like.

I expect my situation to look very different than it does today and if my grandkids ask how things were I may show them some of these posts.

Maybe we’ll read it and laugh or maybe cry. Maybe it will be something in between.

We’ll have to see what life looks like and maybe if some people have pulled their heads out of their asses they’ll be around to share those moments, or maybe not.

Time will tell.
