The Shmata That Loves Me & Other Short Tales

Some of you are rolling your eyes and wondering whether you ought to read this twice to see if there are any secret message or short tales about love, debauchery, romance, action, drama, romantic comedies, sitcoms or this and that.

Of course there are because once you go Wilner you don’t go back, you get sucked in and get to suck on the unicorn’s horn of light and joy.

But only if you say please and there is no guarantee I won’t say no just because I can.

Anyhoo, it has been a crazy few days and I can’t get this damn song out of my head or this one, think Abba.

The Look I Got

Had a conversation earlier in the day in which I am certain the person on the other side of the line was making a face like the horse above.

Might have been when I explained what boundaries exist or when they realized I was using Cher’s lyrics to make a point.

You keep pushing me aside
And I can’t break through
There’s no talking to you

Had the situation been slightly different I would have twisted the knife and added

I really don’t think you’re strong enough
but there really wasn’t a way to work it into the conversation in a way that wasn’t going to cause more issues.
Hell, I inserted the first part because I had reached the point just before you get the unfettered, unfiltered and uncensored side of me.
Some of you think you know that part or have seen it, but very few have me go full Phoenix which is good because it is not an ideal situation.
You really don’t want to go that far unless you are prepared for disaster and total failure but as a few people have said, “you aren’t afraid to take a risk.”
There is not as much truth in that as there used to be but enough for it to still ring true.
Funny thing is I have heard from a few of the old gang who have suggested they can’t change paths because they have invested too much which is something I can’t agree with.
If you are not happy with situations and circumstances and you don’t try to change them you are making a mistake.
It is like voting– don’t vote–don’t complain.

Old Men & Stories

A teenage girl who calls me dad wants to know when I am going to stop making references to songs and movies only old people know.
I tell her it is not going to happen any time soon and throw in a Sonny & Cher reference for good luck.
She doesn’t find it funny and has no clue that I threw in those aforementioned lyrics earlier in the day.
Chances are good I haven’t told her those references and items are part of my secret for getting through the current craziness.
I live in the present, look towards the future and take strength from the past. It is where I see challenges I have encountered and overcome as well as history of the collective struggles/victories.
We’re going to get through this nonsense, but it is not going to be easy, especially if I keep encountering Masters of stupidity and the primitive pompous pinheads of perversion.
What a damn day.
