If I Moved Heaven & Earth

Got about five minutes to throw some more words upon this page knowing that it won’t be enough nor will the words I placed elsewhere, but we do what we can with what we have.

Turn on the music, look out the window towards the general direction of downtown Grapevine and wonder the streets are as empty as they ought to be.

Think back to a trip long ago down Glade to swing by Double Daves, grab a slice and a few items at Target.

Remember that lot as the place where so many important conversations took place and think about the future that was but a dream then.

People ask why what could have been wasn’t and are answered by the practical woman and her concrete logic.

So called crazy men say they can move heaven and earth and point out how they have done it more than once.

Dance in the fire, watch, wait and learn what was possible is impossible and then figure out a way to remove the ‘im‘ and think about how that would be one fine trick.

Possible & Impossible

Teenagers tell me stories about what they think my life has been like and evince some surprise and shock when I share a couple of tales.

Suddenly they discover dear old dad can back up some of his tales of the possible and impossible.

Y0u can put the handcuffs upon my wrist but you cannot guarantee I won’t find a way to break free and no matter what I’m shackled with you cannot control my mind.

My thoughts are forever free and imagination has no constraints so if you ask me to rope the moon, well I just might.

There are matters of mates, souls and hearts and tales of what has been caught between the hammer and the anvil.

Some forges burn bright but the fire in the belly burns brighter.

So we’ll say Goodbye Stranger and keep moving forward regardless of what happens or doesn’t.

****

Somewhere in the darkness while searching for the mythical yellow brick road there will come a meeting of minds and the stranger may ask a cheap trick, to Surrender, but it won’t happen.

Uncivilized barbarians are never tamed, but they do find places to hang up their shields and sheathe their swords.

Sometimes.

It is a marathon, but what in life isn’t.
