Just Another Day

The purge began a while back and hasn’t ended yet.

Been letting go of people and things and walking away because I don’t have the time, ability or energy to pretend anymore that they matter.

It wasn’t a conscious choice, decision or effort, it just happened.

Organic is the word marketers use and that is good enough for me because I don’t require anything more descriptive or specific.

Just Another Day

Some have accused me of not being honest with myself about certain things and or of holding onto stuff I shouldn’t but it is not a description I buy into.

That is because when you have been placed in certain situations and given real time to think you find ample opportunity to figure out what you believe and who you are.

Maybe that is why New Year’s Eve doesn’t feel particularly noteworthy or special to me.

I know what I think and feel about most things and if I don’t, well chances are it is not that important to me.

It is just another day and I am tempted to go to bed early because I am tired and January 1 is going to be a very long day.

Hopefully it is going to be the start of a very big 2017 and I’ll get to enjoy the fruits of my labor, at least that is the plan.

But you never know for certain because plans have a funny way of being tweaked and or adjusted.

Help Or Move

I am not a fan of long goodbyes which contributes to why I am fired up now and the feeling like I am ready to lower my head and trample/gore those who won’t help or are in the way.

Not going to apologize for the black and white nature of that because it really feels like there are those who want to help and those who are hindering.

I learned a long time ago how to find the eye of the storms I pass through which is why I told a few people the smartest thing they could do is step aside.

Kind of funny in some ways because the day before I had a long conversation with someone about the importance of going along and getting along.

But I also firmly believe there are those who join us for the whole journey and those who share a part.

Musical Intermission

  1. Carefree Highway- Gordon Lightfoot
  2. Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You- Led Zeppelin
  3. Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door- Bob Dylan
  4. Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag- James Brown
  5. Have A Little Faith- Joe Cocker
  6. Death & Transfiguration- Hancock Soundtrack
  7. Icky Thump- The White Stripes
  8. The House Is Rockin’- Stevie Ray Vaughan
  9. Nobody- The Doobie Brothers
  10. Baker Street- Gerry Rafferty

Random Stuff

Almost every time I listen to a Doobie Brother’s song I think of What’s Happening and remember Rerun getting caught taping the show, that ought to teach him to do the Funky Chicken. 😉

I have a bunch of records I haven’t played in years and wonder if my CDs are going to go the way of vinyl.

With a little luck the idiots who think it is cool to ring in the new year with guns will get arrested or pass out.

My guess is the neighborhood dogs agree and feel the same about fireworks.

Live Now

That is still one of my favorite quotes and something I try to do each day. I might not always be successful, but I would rather try and fail than fail to try.

I am excited about the prospects of 2017 and focused on turning possibility into opportunity.

Here is to a year that exceeds expectations in the most positive way.

Things happen because we take the time and effort to make them happen, but it never hurts to have a little luck too.

    1. TheJackB – Someone complained that this page doesn’t tell you what to expect to find here in this blog so I aim to rectify this with the next line. I am a father who writes about life, parenting, business, politics and fiction. I don’t use an editorial calendar because I don’t map out what I am going to write that far in advance. The primary focus will be on things that relate to children and parenting. But the nifty thing about that is that encompasses a wide range of things. Sometimes I work with companies on their PR/Marketing efforts. If they provide products or services I will disclose it. Here is an incomplete list of companies that I am currently or have recently worked with: Nintendo, Philips Norelco, Subway, Frigidaire and Mattel. Want to know more about me, keep reading. If I wanted to provide a professional description it would looks similar to this: Jack has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from California State University Northridge. He has been writing for print and web publications for more than twenty years, covering a wide range of topics including: business, technology, parenting, politics, education, sports and religion. That is far too serious so I prefer to use something like: The Jack B. is a writer and author of 39 unpublished books and three screenplays. A former athlete and would be superhero he still fights for truth, justice and the American Way. Though he may look like a grown man, don’t fool yourself he is still a boy at heart. When he is not engaged in Walter Mitty like fantasies he is a husband, father and friend and blogs at TheJackB. Hmm…obviously I have since moved from Random Thoughts over to this place, but that is ok. This page is a work in progress which is a good description for me. I’ll probably tweak this on a regular basis so feel free to keep checking back in because you never know what might show up. I am a prolific writer and update frequently so don’t forget to scroll down the page to see what nugget of wisdom you just might have missed. Here is a short selection of posts to get you started.
