Many years ago I sat with my grandfather and answered many of his questions about technology and why certain things were useful, significant and or important.
I remember asking him if he had any interest in getting a cellphone or a computer. He laughed and told me he really didn’t have much interest in either because at that point in his life he didn’t have a need for them.
How To Posts Galore
Spend a few moments cruising through the blogosphere and you’ll stumble onto a million posts about how to become a better blogger, how to monetize your blog and the importance of blogging for your business but if you really tore into them I am not sure how many have real substance and or answer questions.
If you want to know how it ties into my conversation with my grandfather it is because I remember the response I got during my discussion with him. Understand I had no bigger supporter than my grandfather but that doesn’t mean I didn’t recognize he didn’t see the point or purpose of the extra tools.
Since the conversation took place almost a decade ago I can say the cellphone and computer probably weren’t as important for business as they are now. But I can also see how the quote below could have applied to the conversation and see how it applies virtually every post we write now.

Why Is Blogging Important For Business?
I am not sure you’ll find me among those who espouse the virtues of content marketing for every business because I don’t like making blanket statements like that and because I am not certain the data supports it.
Maybe it is because during my time at the helm I have run into multiple businesses that were operating at capacity and couldn’t handle any more business.
Maybe it is because I have come across those that were preparing to wind down because the owners were retiring or moving on to other things.
Really there are lots of reasons but I am not here to get into all of them.
The real point is to question/comment about whether we really understand what we are writing about or are concerns about feeding the content beast driving us to produce posts that aren’t really meeting the standard we would like to set.

Got great memories of that day. It is good you can leave the phone, sometimes I turn my off just to enjoy those few moments.
I love that picture and the quote is one of my favorites. I love leaving my phone at home. It’s freeing but it’s possible for me. It’s not for everyone which I understand (i.e. business, children)
