The Best Part of President Obama’s Inauguration

The best part of President Obama’s inauguration was when my daughter told me she didn’t understand why people care that he is Black because it confirmed she doesn’t see people via color.

That is not me patting myself on the back or trying to say her mother and I are the best parents you will ever meet.

The world has changed since I was a child. I remember being her age and listening to a teacher tell us that we would be lucky if we ever saw a president who wasn’t an old white guy.

Thirty six years later we saw it happen…again.

Not too shabby.

  1. Hey Josh,

My youngest son (now 13) kept asking me if there was any way he could vote, because he really didn’t want Obama to lose. Cool, huh? Also, kids his age don’t see race, because they are growing up in an increasingly multicultural society.
