7 Little Known Facts About Me

  1. After college I spent three years sailing around the world as a merchant marine. I considered the U.S. Marines but due to an injury suffered during a Muay Thai bout I couldn’t say Hooah and declined to follow up on it.
  2. I spell dog C-A-T.
  3. People from Cleveland are naturally attracted to me. Don’t know why, my river never burst into flames and my sports teams actually win. Ever notice that everyone is from Cleveland and no one lives there.
  4. The greatest place to get a Chicago hot dog or pizza is located outside of Chicago. Tell this to a Chicagoan and they’ll go nuts.
  5. I believe that the Celtics are the spawn of Satan. One of the great memories of my life is from the summer of 1985. The Lakers had finally beaten the hated Celtics for the championship.
  6. I believe that the D.H. is an abomination and should be removed from baseball.
  7. I came up with Nike’s slogan to “Just Do It.” Now if they’d just pay me for it.
  8.  I once bumped into Steve Jobs. No really, I bumped into him. It was at Internet World in 2000. I turned the corner and my shoulder went right into his chest. I am pretty sure that he saw stars or heard music. Matter of fact I think that this is what led to the creation of the iPod.
  9. If I had to give up all of my possessions I’d fight to the death to save my music and my books. Matter of fact I’d probably fight to the death to hold onto my knife. It is a lot easier to fight with a knife than with your hands.
  10. Oprah scheduled me to appear on her show and then rescinded the invitation when she found out that Doctor Phil had given me an invitation as well. Who knew that she’d be so jealous. But I am still holding out for a chance to go on Jerry Springer. You haven’t lived until you have a chance to rumble on Jerry’s show.
  11.  I considered changing my name to Inigo Montoya.

Yeah, I know it says “7 facts” but everyone knows that 7 and 11 go together so I went for it. Heck, I could have posted 27 and 2/3 but I didn’t. It is New Year’s Eve and sometimes we all need to let loose a little bit and have some fun.

The world always needs a bit more silliness in it.

    1. TheJackB – Someone complained that this page doesn’t tell you what to expect to find here in this blog so I aim to rectify this with the next line. I am a father who writes about life, parenting, business, politics and fiction. I don’t use an editorial calendar because I don’t map out what I am going to write that far in advance. The primary focus will be on things that relate to children and parenting. But the nifty thing about that is that encompasses a wide range of things. Sometimes I work with companies on their PR/Marketing efforts. If they provide products or services I will disclose it. Here is an incomplete list of companies that I am currently or have recently worked with: Nintendo, Philips Norelco, Subway, Frigidaire and Mattel. Want to know more about me, keep reading. If I wanted to provide a professional description it would looks similar to this: Jack has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from California State University Northridge. He has been writing for print and web publications for more than twenty years, covering a wide range of topics including: business, technology, parenting, politics, education, sports and religion. That is far too serious so I prefer to use something like: The Jack B. is a writer and author of 39 unpublished books and three screenplays. A former athlete and would be superhero he still fights for truth, justice and the American Way. Though he may look like a grown man, don’t fool yourself he is still a boy at heart. When he is not engaged in Walter Mitty like fantasies he is a husband, father and friend and blogs at TheJackB. Hmm…obviously I have since moved from Random Thoughts over to this place, but that is ok. This page is a work in progress which is a good description for me.
