I was going to start with a video of Kol Ha Olam Kulo but couldn’t find the cut I wanted so I opted to go with the two links below. Think of it as being similar to a warmup for working out.
Koolulam/Chai – Ofra Haza
If Tomorrow Starts Without Me (read by Tom O’Bedlam- so very good)
I pushed my BP to just short of 150 today during my run on the treadmill and tried not to be irritated that I couldn’t go harder for longer.
Stacked enough weights on each side of the curling machine for a trainer to comment on how much more I am lifting now.
I reminded him this journey started a year ago and said I am unsatisfied with my progress but pleased with how far I have come.
Looked down at my hands in exhaustion and remembered how an old friend used to comment on how similar they are to my father’s hands.
Sometimes when I miss him or feel like I have something to say to him I look at my hands which really are his hands on my arms.
Told him we had another set to do and then tried not to stagger to a chair to sit.
“Dad, I had several conversations today where I asked people “what happens if you can’t see your education is indoctrination.
Don’t Dance With Fools
Someone tried to come for me today with a blend of general idiocy and ignorance. They accused me of not showing people I am a Zionist on this blog or on Facebook.
It made me snort because I have never hidden it anywhere nor do I have any issue acknowledging I am a Zionist.
The fool who came for me doesn’t understand it is not a pejorative even though it is how she wants to use it.
I told her she can’t redefine a word that she doesn’t understand to fit the definition she was indoctrinated with.
Zionism is Jewish self determination in our homeland to which we are indigenous and have three thousand continuous years of life in. Nothing says land can’t be shared peacefully. One could argue it is at the root of the ’47 partition plan, Oslo accords and multiple land for peace offers.
Dad would tell me not to waste time engaging and that if you don’t dance with fools you can save yourself a load of stress.
He isn’t entirely wrong but I do sometimes do so for the reason listed in the picture above, Kol Yisrael Arazim Zeh l’zeh.
We are obligated to look out for each other and I take it seriously. In a time of explosive antisemitism promoted by bad celebrities, politicians and feckless fops it is important to stand up.
It is important because some of my fellow MOTs are afraid to do so. I understand the fear and the concern. I don’t fault them for it.
We all have roles to fill and some skills we are gifted with. I am not someone who can be bullied into silence nor do I have trouble communicating a fact based coherent story so sometimes that is my job.
Some people are so profoundly ignorant and so easily manipulated they don’t have the ability to see how they are being used by others.
They don’t see the holes in the stories they are fed nor do they look for them so they act like cows and chew upon the cud they’re fed.
It is a sad fact and one that isn’t limited to political party because it is part of the human condition. Not everyone will take the time to ask questions about the things they hear/read/see.
Don’t mistake that to mean that I can’t be fooled or haven’t been because I have. It happens and I am not so arrogant to ignore it.
But on some topics in some areas I look for the holes, the gaps and and inconsistencies.
Why?
Because I have been discussing some of this for decades and I am familiar with some of the stupidity and arrogance that gets passed around.
One of the saddest aspects of this ignorance is the fools who use their TikTok education as their foundation for speaking end up hurting the people they think they are helping.
They end up repeating the propaganda of the terrorists who are exploiting their “social justice cause of the week.”
I have pointed it out more than once but many refuse to hear me because they are so enmeshed in their tribe they can’t give credit to anyone who doesn’t pass their purity tests.
One Step At A Time
I keep reminding myself of the importance of this quote. Keep reminding myself the changes I have made are far bigger and noticeable to those who haven’t seen me.
Keep reminding myself that because I see myself daily I need to look at where I was and where I am now.
That is why people talk about establishing benchmarks so that you measure progress over time. I haven’t been as good at that as I should be which is why my frustration sometimes spikes.
But when I take out the notes and look it becomes very obvious that massive progress has been made. That is when I remind myself I didn’t get to where I was overnight and I won’t get to where I want to be overnight either.
But you can bet your ass I will get to where I am going because it is not a choice for me. It is not optional, it is not if, but when.
Can’t do that with everything but when applicable it is not a bad way to go. Forward we go, always forward.
