When The Queen Mum Comes To Visit

When the queen mum comes to visit you wonder if they have taken the time to read what I’d say to you even though they wouldn’t catch most of the references.

Perhaps they would go here and scroll down the page to see what they have missed and perhaps not.

I could suggest they check out the salacious cake here or maybe not. Got to appreciate the local baker who doesn’t care about the crazy politics and fights for the right side.

Been quite the time and quite the day and not because I made the mistake of eating some ice cream.

Spent a few minutes listening to a good interview with the CEO of a start up called Walnut that has an interesting product that Joe Montana invested in.

It was a good way to clear my head and try to determine if I had taken my airpods out and lost them or if they had gone on their own walkabout.

They are a key part of my work day and I use them constantly for personal matters too.

Sadly I could not recover them so I spent 15 minutes educating the Best Buy guy so that they would match the price of another vendor.

Finally got approval so I reluctantly purchased a replacement set, but at least for significantly less.

Wait Until We Are 50

Long ago though it feels like yesterday someone told me that some things probably couldn’t happen “until we are like 50.”

I remember nodding my head and shaking it simultaneously because I disagreed with most of it but followed the concept.

That doesn’t count for how old I thought 50 was and what I imagined it might be like. It is hard to reconcile some of what happened then with the time in between and how I feel now.

I don’t feel old but I don’t feel young either.

Had my first colonoscopy when I was 49 and was told by the doc that since my Dad had died from pancreatic cancer I should plan on coming back in three years.

It didn’t bother me that I wasn’t given five years like some of my friends. It is just another procedure but then again I didn’t count on three years passing so quickly and taking some damn long.

Let’s face it 2020 wasn’t the ordinary 365 days long. No, that was Ride Me Big Sheldon 984 days long.

That was I thought I exercised more and ate less than I did long.

But it was also you’re curling more and doing more pushups than you had in along while long.

Anyhoo, I set aside some of that time to think long and hard about about what I want from life. Made a few determinations and set 12/31/2021 as the deadline for some things.

There will be significant movement or there will be changes.

That is how progress works, you establish timelines and measurable action items that enable you to see movement or stagnation.

Some have suggested it is a truculent approach and some have ignored what some have said. 🙂

No problem paying a price as long I can see the value in paying it.

We’ll end this particular post with a quote from Chuck that resonates with me.
