The Girl In The Black Sun Dress & Other Stories

The people who know asked if I would write about the girl in the black sun dress and other stories.

I nodded my head, said “aye” and they asked me when I became a Scotsman.

“When I saw that lassie naked.”

I watched them scratch their heads and left them to their own devices knowing they wouldn’t push too hard cuz I can keep these things going in deep circles.

Not all deserve to be given the keys to the kingdom and even those granted keys are watched to see if they will do what is expected.

Expectations are a funny thing, something we have to have and yet need to adjust as needed.

So it goes as I update and write through the early afternoon and evening I look at some of it and shake my head.

The quality isn’t where I want it to be but sometimes you just go for it because not doing so leads to paralysis of analysis.

Words On A Page

Sometimes you put words on a page that represent the essence of who you are and they are ignored or rejected.

And sometimes the thing you write flippantly is the one the flips the switch in another and moves them into thawing out what had been frozen.

You don’t always know what will or won’t work. You don’t always know what will lead to that burning fire Johnny and June sang about or one of those others that lead to a shriveled heart.

But if you have a certain amount of courage and a couple of ounces of stupidity you just might try to find out.

So you put the words on the page where they can be found if folks go looking and wait.

The waiting is the hardest part so sometimes you just keep writing because you figure if you didn’t get it write before you’ll get it write the next time, or the time after the time after.

Maybe.

It is a damn adventure I tell you, a damn adventure.

But sometimes the black sun dress makes it all worthwhile.

Sometimes.
