The Flotsam & Jetsam Of Blogging

Sometimes I look in my spam folder and respond to the silly scammers who try to persuade me to give them my personal details so that they might pull money from my pockets.

I write them responses that are gibberish or short stories that I compose on the spot and wonder if anyone can really hear my voice or if they even speak English.

Take this one:

“Dear Mr. Montag,

It is with great pleasure I receive word of your gift. It reminds me of when the beautiful woman would play the lottery with the hope of receiving a winning ticket that would help us start a life together.

We did not have to have that money to try that life which is good since we did not win.

But we did get multiple chances to do old the old woppity-boppity. Does your money come with strings or handcuffs that prevent doing the woppity-boppity or can one use it to play hide the salami which as you know is a world famous game.

Given that as a resource it would indeed promote goodwill and joy among the followers of the bishop and the bullfrog not to mention the illustrious Shola Rhodes, servant of the famous Pasqualina. Please respond with cash first so that we may know thy desire is pure.”

Thus far there has been no replay from Mr. Montag, but there are always others who probably will.

Not all I write gets ignored.

Nails & Tires

Had to replace another tire thanks to the gift given by the Texas road. It wasn’t entirely unexpected but given the car is all of a month old it wasn’t a particularly happy experience.

It was the second time in less than a month and the second car that required assistance.

Got the tire plan from the dealer so the cost wasn’t what it could have been but that only took part of the edge off.

Reminded the younger Mr. Wilner that he has done far better with a first car than his old man and that if we are lucky this is the worst of it.

Praying that I am correct and that nothing worse comes from this but only time will tell if that is how it plays out.

Given the amount of construction here purchasing the tire insurance was a smart idea and I expect that it will unfortunately prove its worth.

Went out and picked up a roadside kit that contains jumper cables, reflectors and a first aid kit.

Made a point to supplement that with an emergency blanket and a flashlight for the glove compartment.

If there is life beyond this place surely my father is smiling upon us as I impress some of the life lessons he taught upon his grandchildren.

Talked again about some of the things that are going on around us and what that means and juxtaposed some of it against the coming anniversary of 9/11.

He can’t appreciate why the day hits me the way it does and that is ok, we was too young to understand.

Too young to have had some of the life experiences that impact us and too young to know people as I do who still can’t talk about it because they experienced it first hand.

Too young to remember life before and to recognize the changes that came afterwards.

But he’ll get his own set of life experiences and if he follows just an ounce of my advice he’ll get quite a bit.

Soon To Be Seen

I had planned on watching CODA tonight but it didn’t happen and I suspect it probably won’t. Might try for tomorrow or wait for the weekend.

Facebook tells me friends in LA have been going to movies and I am excited for them to be able to do so.

Not ready to do that here, not yet, but wish I could.

I really enjoy movies and look forward to seeing on a big screen in which I can get lost in the story.

For the moment I have to adjust and watch at home or write my own. Been working on a couple of ideas.

Not sure if I’ll ever try to cash in on them, might just write them in private and let them breathe there, don’t know.

There is time to think about it I suppose, such it is with the the flotsam and jetsam of blogging.

Bits and pieces of thoughts that you place upon the waves of WordPress watching to see if the blogosphere sends them near or far.
