Ask For What You Want

The advice columnist wrote back and said, “ask for what you want.”

I took their words and applied them in multiple places with some conversations taking place via email, some by phone and some by private blog entries.

The advice columnist wrote back again and said not to let fear drive decision making.

“If it is not this job it will be the next and if not the woman you seek another will find you.”

The advice columnist was careful not to pick specific time frames enabling them to comment without being tied to particulars.

There is merit in such an approach as it makes it easier to pivot as needed. I didn’t give myself the same luxuries and said some things had to happen by the end of the year or I would make others happen.

Walking The Line

Can’t say I have been walking the line but I have been walking a line that alternately excites and irritates me.

Feels a bit like I am in the fighting chair on a boat way out at sea where I am trying to outlast an enormous fish.

Working on reeling that tuna in to make some fish tacos.

The thing about walking this line is it feels like it is the right direction and that it will lead to new opportunity but then again, it might not.

The line might break or the hook may not really be in the mouth and so we can run into situations and circumstances in which what we think we know isn’t really what think it is.

But if one is going to try to have those truly memorable experiences and do so more than once there aren’t many options.

Can’t say if the summer fisherman figures out how to hook his line into a June fish during September.

And if you don’t think that might be part of an award winning greeting card one day I’ll let you in on a secret but not today.
