Keep On Keeping On

The dental hygienist asks if my BP is always this high and I shrug my shoulders.

“Been a long day of playing fireman and I am fired up about a bunch of things.”

“Take a deep breath Mr. Wilner and try to relax. I’ll give you a moment and then we’ll start.”

I am seated near the front and can hear the women in the front talking about who they are dating. One is giving a blow-by-blow account of what some guy said to her

They ask me what I think I am doing and I say I keep on keeping on and that the time is coming closer.

When they ask what that means I say I told you the answers in a dream I had and sometimes dreams are preludes to what happens in life.

“What does that mean?

“It means you kissed me first and probably will again but you’ll blame me. I wrote you a long letter about it in a place you can find, if you want to. Of course I could say no to everything, but hell, I am intrigued.”

The hygienist comes back and shoves a dental instrument in my mouth so I don’t find out whether the one woman tells the other if she is going to let herself get caught.

So I put in my Airpods and the mix starts with Witchita Lineman and I get lost in other thoughts.

Got to travel across town to where my first apartment here was and play around with whether I want to make any other stops.

There are some great memories tied up around there. Haven’t been out that way for close to a year, probably make a run by Carshon’s Deli and maybe see if Mama’s Pizza survived the ‘Rona.

Conversations & Words Left Unsaid

Got a link for those who haven’t visited recently and want to catch up and responses to those who have made note of short responses to text.

If you want details and answers it is probably easier to engage in a conversation by phone or face-to-face. I am growing quieter in my old age and slower to disclose things.

Small talk isn’t something I do much of outside of professional settings. Sometimes my silence exists because I haven’t been asked or am skeptical about whether people are really interested in an answer.

Music Break

Life Never Stops

Found out that a few more people I know or should I say knew have died during the past half dozen years. Cancer took a few and various illnesses took others.

That doesn’t count the few who were murdered or killed in random accidents.

Reminded me again that life never stops and how important it is to enjoy these moments and take advantage of them.

I almost didn’t go to dinner with an old friend the other night because I was exhausted from a long week. But I did go and I am glad I did because it reminded me how important it is to live now.

Tomorrow isn’t promised.
