This Is Us Or Is This You & I

This might be one of my favorite songs ever, but I can’t say because not enough time has passed for it to earn those marks.

Sitting down watching the most recent episode of This Is Us thinking about how they must hope people watch and relate to it and think about what catches me and what doesn’t.

Sing with Bruce and reminisce while wondering what the future might bring.

Baby, baby, baby
I’m so alone
Baby, baby, baby
I’m coming home
Autumn carnival on the edge of town
We walk down the midway arm-in-arm
One minute you’re here
Next minute you’re gone
I thought I knew just who I was
And what I’d do but I was wrong
One minute you’re here
Next minute you’re gone

Tighten my belt, look out the window and remind myself it has been a rough road for a while now, not personally but collectively and we’re all feeling the effect.

Ask the hard questions and look for the hard answers because the easy ones miss the mark. If we’re going to do it, we’ll we might as well go for it.

The Naked Truth

The kid looks at me and cocks his head to the side when I tell him I don’t pay much attention to his plans now.

“You tell me you never plan on getting married or having kids and I get that, but you’re 20. Feels old to you, sounds old, but it is not what you think. I was 20 yesterday and I know a few things.

Life can surprise you, especially if you meet woman who wants your naked truth and is willing to share hers with you. You don’t find that with just anyone and if you do, well she’ll turn your life upside down and inside out.

You’ll compromise on some things and you won’t mind so much.”

I took all the sunshine and rain
All my happiness and all my pain
The dark evening stars
And the morning sky of blue
And I sent it in my letter to you
And I sent it in my letter to you
In my letter to you
I took all my fears and doubts
In my letter to you
All the hard things that I found out
In my letter to you
All that I found true
And I sent it in my letter to you
I sent it in my letter to you

He is right, I have done that once or twice and here and there.  Sometimes I am certain I was heard and sometimes less so.

Learned that sometimes silence is consent, agreement and acknowledgment of truth and sometimes it is the whispers of a ghost lost upon a dry wind.

Something Broke, Something Broken

Realized a while ago that things had happened that created a situation where something broke and in turn left something broken.

Took a while to think about it, to study and consider it from multiple angles while trying to figure out if it made sense to try to repair it.

Concluded there wasn’t any purpose or reason to give oxygen to what was already dust and accepted what was.

That acceptance is necessary and important for moving to what is and what can be and so here we are.

Got ideas and thoughts about what it means and placed some in a different sort of time capsule I can click and surf to.

A cyberhome for such things where I can visit and consider if what I thought was right far off of the mark.

Life isn’t about dreams but action items and plans to make such things into more than just a thought so you have to establish benchmarks and roadmaps you can use to see what you have or haven’t accomplished.

Hold out your and while you step into the mystic and see if you do it yourself or with another.
