The Sandwich Maker

Still throwing words on a page for those who choose to look for them and for those who choose to read them.

Could tell you about the freshman congressman in Georgia who traffics in conspiracy theories and who has declared her intention to file impeachment charges against President Elect Biden on January 21.

Or could speak of the freshman wingnut from Colorado who wants to take her gun to the Capitol floor and whose definition of substance is to feign outrage and to stomp her feet because her supporters don’t like reality or fact.

But what fun would that be when I can tell you about the sandwich maker that Amazon delivered today.

It came courtesy of a gift card received during the holidays because l am a Jedi, like my father before me or because we both like gadgets.

You pick, either one or both is fine with me.

Give It A Try

Picked up the maker because I love a good hot meal for breakfast and heard this is an easy way to put one together.

Figured a gift that provides some modicum of happiness and is practical is worth quite a bit and if it doesn’t pan out, well I’ll donate it and someone will get use out of it.

Been thinking about this for about a year now and had held off because I didn’t want to get something that would be used a couple of times and sit in a closet or drawer.

Don’t need any more junk and more than once have thought about giving away most of what I own. Thought about shrinking it down so that I can pick up and go in a day or so and just haven’t pulled the trigger.

Got to pick up some meat to use along with some salsa and eggs, can already smell it, so tasty.

****

Been thinking again about the old man and what he would say about current circumstances. Been thinking I have heard a muffled roar coming from below ground in Simi Valley and how pleased he’d be to see Trump be held accountable by some.

Been thinking he would be irked it wasn’t more and that he would have more than a few things to say about the current circumstances we find ourselves in.

Can hear him talk about guys he knew that got drafted and went off to Vietnam as well as stories he knew about men who fought in WWII and Korea.

Think he’d agree that in some ways the country had to be in much worse shape post Civil War than now and wonder whether he would agree social media is a challenge.

It has made us and broken us but where we end up is yet to be seen. Frankenstein’s monster is no longer controlled by the scientist, they waited too long to try to fix things.

Now we see where the tempest takes us and if we can navigate to shore.

What Bridge Is It?

Is London Bridge falling down or are we on the path that takes us over troubled waters to a calmer side.  These are questions I’d bounce off of Dad if he were here but he is not and now when people look for the words of the eldest Wilner man there is no reason to turn and look.

I am he and if I don’t answer there will be silence. Maybe it doesn’t matter and it won’t.

Maybe it is ok not to know all the facts and to have all the data to say what you think will happen with the sort of confidence and authority we might hope for.

Perhaps I am better off focusing on the things I know and nothing more.

Perhaps.
