One day some years ago I heard someone refer to the importance of James Garner in The Notebook as to making sure his wife didn’t engage in revisionist history.
Don’t know why but it reminds me of something I heard Johnny say about what really happens inside June’s head.
Something about her thinking she was the boss but not realizing it was only because he let her think that. It was said in front of her and with love so presumably she didn’t try to ball him out too badly, but who knows what happens when logic isn’t always part of the picture.
Anyhoo, Mike Pence just got what could be his Admiral Stockdale moment, except Stockdale had some nobility to cheer and Pence has none.
I was accused of producing material that had multiple messages and was asked if people should be reading between the lines and I laughed.
“You know some years ago a girl told me she is never the first to say I love you and that I kissed her first. But we all know the truth is the reverse happened.”
The other person asked me if I would tell them who and I refused because I am a gentleman and should the other party somehow read this they would get hot and bothered and I would never cause that kind of trouble.
“In other words Josh, this is just another one of your stories.”
I told them I am not particularly good at telling stories and they said I am particularly good at getting into trouble.
That is matter of opinion and perspective so I won’t comment upon it.
Instead I’ll share that if I were to tell a story I might use some or all of the books above to help parse and meter out a proper tale.
Something about strange encounters that some might call coincidence and others call destiny because sometimes it is just how it rolls.
But mostly I’d lay some of my cards on the table and say I absolutely know and feel things. Things are changing and it won’t be long before some questions are answered again and some tales receive new chapters.
The best part is that when you tell stories, you can always adapt, adjust and pivot as needed to make all the details work.
Doesn’t have to be a perfect first run, but you have to be willing to look at the rough draft and make a few changes and adjustments.
Put the work in and good things will come to you.
