Some said Paradox Is a Word Bloggers Use is the kind of post that made them wonder what sort of blogger/writer I am and others said nothing.
I chose not to respond or reply to the emails and comments I received elsewhere because I felt like I had something to say but wasn’t sure what it was.
Wasn’t quite certain if it was going to be the sort of moving and meaningful reply that provides profound insight or if it was going to fall short of the mark.
So I chose to be silent, to look and listen to the silence within because it felt like this was a time for reflection and not verbosity.
More than 30 years ago I stood on top of Masada and talked with some of my friends about whether we ought to take some of the rocks that were strewn across the Snake path that you can use to ascend/descend and create a small wall or structure.
It fit my teenage sense of humor to build something that people might think was ancient. Something about it just made me laugh and to be honest, it is still kind of funny to me.
Maybe it is the part of me that never ceases to be amazed by how some people just accept whatever they are told, see or are fed as being the final truth.
And now it strikes me from a different place, something about how the little things can play significant roles in our lives and add meaning we don’t always recognize.
When Prince Attended A Passover Seder
You might wonder if my headline is an attempt to engage in newsjacking. You might wonder if I am trying to generate more traffic by using Prince and Passover in the headline or if there is a real connection.
My answer is this is me just thinking out loud, this me responding to the cover Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and company did of While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tonight my family will celebrate Passover at my parent’s new house and somewhere before, during and after I’ll think about the forty or so first seders that were held at the old house.
I’ll look around the room and hear the echoes of great grandparents and grandparents and remember those that once sat with us but are no longer there.
I look at the world and I notice it’s turning

With every mistake we must surely be learning

I can’t tell you very much at all about Prince as a person. I really don’t know if he was a good guy or a bad one.
What I can tell you is I have always appreciated his music and the passion for it that I saw.
Friends who saw his concerts talked about raw energy radiating from the stage. I am sorry I missed out.
Part of what strikes me in the video is Prince’s guitar solo and how he seems to be completely focused and engrossed in it.
That is what I hope to do at the seder, forget about all of the external noise and for a short time focus solely upon the moment.
I hope that everyone else is able to as well and that my kids and nephew come away with another special memory to add to their lives.

People get far too caught up in the marketing and material side of it all.
Sometimes it is just about writing down some thoughts and ideas to bounce around and think about. Sometimes it is remembering to let go and let passion drive us and to get lost in that passion, be it only for a moment.
