How To Make The Most Of Your Time

I like a lot of the suggestions in this presentation. There are some great tips in there but there is one that wasn’t spelled out in detail.

Take time for yourself.

I am talking about scheduling time to do nothing but something that you find relaxing and enjoyable. That is one of the best ways to recharge your batteries and put yourself in a position to make more use of your time.

Why?

Because life is meant to be lived and experienced. Sometimes in our effort not to waste time we miss or forget that and it is to our detriment.

My professional background includes more than twenty years in working with businesses to help them do a better job of connecting with their existing and prospective customers. I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy music, reading, writing, playing sports and laughing.

  1. The older I get, the harder that is. I think when we are younger, we think we have all the time in the world–and in a sense, if we are lucky, we kinda do. Nowadays I seem obsessed with all the things I need to do and should do and want to do that I cannot sit still–it drives me crazy, because I want to keep up physically with all the zillions of thoughts running through my brain. I can’t tell you when the last time was that I was able to sit through an entire movie or even a television episode without getting up after a few minutes and tending to something around the house. But I agree with you, Joshua. We need those moments to just chill and do nothing, if not to sleep, then to just recharge our batteries, to find a way to enjoy the NOW.
    I really ought to dust off one of my guitars and just play it, just to enjoy the experience. That always helped to settle me down into the present like nothing else.

    1. TheJackB – Someone complained that this page doesn’t tell you what to expect to find here in this blog so I aim to rectify this with the next line. I am a father who writes about life, parenting, business, politics and fiction. I don’t use an editorial calendar because I don’t map out what I am going to write that far in advance. The primary focus will be on things that relate to children and parenting. But the nifty thing about that is that encompasses a wide range of things. Sometimes I work with companies on their PR/Marketing efforts. If they provide products or services I will disclose it. Here is an incomplete list of companies that I am currently or have recently worked with: Nintendo, Philips Norelco, Subway, Frigidaire and Mattel. Want to know more about me, keep reading. If I wanted to provide a professional description it would looks similar to this: Jack has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from California State University Northridge. He has been writing for print and web publications for more than twenty years, covering a wide range of topics including: business, technology, parenting, politics, education, sports and religion. That is far too serious so I prefer to use something like: The Jack B. is a writer and author of 39 unpublished books and three screenplays. A former athlete and would be superhero he still fights for truth, justice and the American Way. Though he may look like a grown man, don’t fool yourself he is still a boy at heart. When he is not engaged in Walter Mitty like fantasies he is a husband, father and friend and blogs at TheJackB. Hmm…obviously I have since moved from Random Thoughts over to this place, but that is ok. This page is a work in progress which is a good description for me. I’ll probably tweak this on a regular basis so feel free to keep checking back in because you never know what might show up.       I agree. Youth provides us with this sense of a never ending road filled with time, endless amounts of it.

      I never worried about not having time to do more because I always felt like I had the aforementioned endless amounts of it.

      Now it takes effort to relax and not try to do 3 things at once because that to do list never gets shorter.

      Those quiet moments are of paramount importance to me. This need to fill every moment of the day with activity is not helping our children or us.
